Special care and attention for you, your baby and family are the top priority for the Maternal and Child Health Department. We offer access to high quality, compassionate and caring services that promote optimal health. The divisions of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Newborn Services are part of this department.
We offer maternity and newborn services that are personalized and respectful of your needs at the Bright Beginnings Family Birthing Center, including:
- Physician and Midwife deliveries
- Level II Nursery
- High risk pregnancy
- Labor coaches
- Pain management including epidurals
- Translation services for all languages
- Mother-Baby Coupling
- Infant care classes and breast feeding support
- Infant security system
- Advice nurse available 24 hours
You can deliver your baby in one of our beautiful new birthing rooms, surrounded by your family and friends. After your delivery, we have rooming-in so you can get to know your baby right from the beginning. Our staff includes doctors, certified nurse midwives, registered nurses, Medi-Cal eligibility workers, dieticians and social workers.
The Obstetrics Unit is located on the 9th floor of Highland Hospital and has seven Labor and Delivery beds and 25 post-partum/antepartum beds. We have semi-private rooms with a spectacular view and 24-hour visiting to make your stay a pleasant one.
