The Department of Maternal Child Health has been providing comprehensive health care to women and children in Alameda County for over 50 years. We are dedicated to ensuring all families receive excellent care, regardless of their ability to pay or their insurance status, in a culturally sensitive atmosphere. We encourage health education, as well as prevention and view our families as partners in the healthcare team. In addition to providing birthing services at the Highland Hospital Campus, our many providers share their expertise and offer services at our free standing clinics throughout the county.
Our providers are graduates of some of the top medical programs in the country, and are from diverse cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds. Our group includes board certified physicians, those who specialize in high risk pregnancies, as well as those with special interests in Lactation and Family Planning. Our staff of Certified Nurse Midwives are available 24 hours a day to assist with women desiring a low intervention birthing experience.
